CounterPath Announces Bria X Interoperability Certification with Plantronics Hub

Combination enables millions of users to leverage Plantronics device controls targeted for call center and small to medium enterprise users

CounterPath Announces Bria X Interoperability Certification with Plantronics Hub

Vancouver, BC, Canada — December 05, 2016

CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH) (TSX: PATH), a global provider of award-winning, over-the-top (OTT) Unified Communications (UC) solutions for enterprises and carriers, today announced that newly launched Bria X is now certified interoperable with Plantronics Hub for Windows/Mac. This accreditation further solidifies CounterPath’s commitment to providing the best user experience across any device, any network and any platform by ensuring that the full UC experience – from software to headset – is optimized and functions with little to no effort on the user’s part.

“We are focused on providing the best user experience for Bria X customers,” said Todd Carothers, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, CounterPath. “Integrating the Plantronics Hub APIs into Bria X enables desktop and mobile devices to leverage deeper functionality of over 25 headsets that will work out of the box with full feature support. As an example, in the case of the Savi series from Plantronics, Bria X will set the presence status even when a call comes to the mobile native dialer. This level of attention to detail makes for the best user expense.”

In addition to standard headset audio support, the Plantronics Hub certification includes the following when supported on the individual device:

  • Answer call – User answers an incoming call from their headset; presence status on Bria X will change to “On the phone”.
  • End call – User ends a call from their headset; presence status on Bria X will change to “Available” or previously set status.
  • Mute – User can mute a call from their headset; indicator on Bria X will show mute is engaged.
  • Hold – User can put a call on hold from their headset; indicator on Bria X will show call is on hold.
  • Switch between calls – User can toggle between two active calls from their headset.
  • Ability to move call audio between the headset and native desktop speakers/mic.
  • Show user presence on Bria desktop when on a mobile call (Bria or native dialer) – supported on the Plantronics Savi series of headsets.

“With the growing market for USB headsets, the work we have put into the Plantronics Hub certification, and other coming certifications, will go a long way,” continued Carothers. “Last year Frost & Sullivan reported that UC users are expected to grow from 48.1 million in 2015 to 177.1 million by 2021, creating a significant opportunity for UC-enabled headsets and applications such as Bria X as more businesses adopt UC and abandon the deskphone.”
