Xten Adds Full Motion Video to VoIP With New SIP Softphone – eyeBeam
Vancouver, BC, Canada — September 05, 2014
Xten (OTCBB: XNWK), a provider of SIP-based video and voice over IP softphones and software, today announced the launch of eyeBeam, a video SIP softphone. eyeBeam supports open standards video utilizing SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and the H.263 video codec, which supports video transmissions that are television-like in their quality. This enables service providers to easily deliver high-quality videoconferencing via IP to their customers, thus opening new IP revenue streams.
The eyeBeam feature set includes an array of robust SIP telephony features offered in the award-winning X-PRO SIP softphone, including call transfer/forward, caller ID, and 10-point conferencing. eyeBeam enhances this feature set with the addition of acoustic echo cancellation, voice activity detection, adaptive jitter buffer and message waiting indicator.
Xten’s Rapid Branding process enables multiple service operators to realize a quick time-to-market softphone solution built on open standards technology. eyeBeam is also available as an SDK that includes the following low-level APIs: Audio, Video, HTTP, STUN, SIP Stack, SIP Call Control, SDP, RTP, ICE and DNS. The eyeBeam SDK will provide carriers with maximum control of their customized SIP endpoints.
“eyeBeam is one of the few video SIP softphones in the industry that can be readily deployed today by the leading providers in the VoIP market,” explains Erik Lagerway, president and chief operating officer of Xten. “Xten has realized amazing recognition with service providers worldwide from our voice software. Now we are taking it to the next level with open standards video.”
Xten’s softphone technology uniquely incorporates innovative features such as advanced, plug-and-play firewall traversal technology and the latest protocols such as Interactive Connectivity Establishment (ICE) while also supporting emerging applications such as wireless VoIP and video. The softphone software is specifically designed to allow service providers and their customers to save on both equipment and maintenance costs by eliminating the need for additional network hardware such as servers and gateways to support efficient call routing. In addition, Xten’s softphone technology incorporates one of the greatest numbers of codecs to optimize the quality of VoIP based on bandwidth availability and to support fast-growing applications such as IP video.
Xten’s softphones are carrier-grade IP telephony SIP endpoints, delivering the quality of service and features that large providers require to serve their customer base. Xten has a feature-rich FREE SIP softphone dubbed X-Lite, in addition to the fully featured X-PRO commercial softphone. Xten’s softphones are fully RFC3261 (SIP), RTP/RTCP (RFC 1889) and SDP (RFC 3264) compliant. They are available for Windows (Windows 98SE/ME/NT 4/2000/XP/CE), macOS and Pocket PC operating systems.
