CounterPath and EPB Partner to Provide Advanced UC Services to Businesses

Vancouver, BC, Canada — June 04, 2015

CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH) (TSX: CCV), a developer of award-winning over-the-top (OTT) Unified Communications solutions for enterprises and operators, today announced that EPB, a US based service provider with a fiber-to-the-home network serving every home and business in its 600 square mile service territory, has selected CounterPath’s Bria softphone and Stretto Platform with Helpdesk and Analytics as the underlying technology for its Unified Communications offering. EPB is currently focused on growing its hosted solutions business by offering businesses sophisticated telephony services that leverage its ultra-high speed fiber optic network.

“We want to offer our customers solutions that allow them to be as productive, innovative and collaborative as they want to be,” said Katie Espeseth, EPB’s Vice President of New Products. “Now, with the launch of EPB UC Solutions, powered by CounterPath technology, businesses can offer their employees a full suite of hosted UC services, including VoIP calling, point-of-presence information, instant messaging, and video conference calling, all from an intuitive user interface that is consistent across desktop, tablet and smartphone platforms.”

According to Wainhouse Research, the Unified Communications as a Service Market is expect to grow at a 24% five-year compound annual growth rate to $5.3 billion by 2018, with much of the growth coming from the mid-to-large enterprise segment.

“We are pleased to partner with EPB, a US-based service provider with a large fiber optic network servicing business and retail customers” said Todd Carothers, EVP of Marketing and Products at CounterPath. “This agreement highlights the quality of our products, which were selected based on a competitive tender process, a pilot program with a lead enterprise customer, and our ability to interwork seamlessly with EPB’s Metaswitch infrastructure. With the launch of advanced UC services, EPB’s customers can now launch hosted UC services to increase productivity and reduce costs. We are excited to forge this new relationship with EPB, and will support EPB’s business development efforts as they roll-out the new service across their business footprint.”

About EPB:

In 1935, the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee established EPB as a nonprofit agency to provide electric power to the greater Chattanooga area. Today, using a 100% fiber optic network as its backbone, EPB has built a next-generation electric system that includes communication capabilities designed to reduce the impact of power outages, improve response time and allow customers greater control of their electric power usage. This same fiber optic backbone is allowing EPB to offer high-speed Internet, TV and phone service to business and residential customers community-wide. In September 2010, EPB became the first company in the United States to offer one gigabit-per-second Internet speed to the entire service territory.
