CounterPath Expands Distribution with ABP Technology Agreement

Vancouver, BC, Canada — July 22, 2014

CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH) (TSX: CCV), a leading developer of award-winning desktop, tablet and mobile VoIP software products and solutions, today announced a distribution agreement with ABP Technology, a leading Value-Added Distributor (VAD) of IP Telephony and unified communications solutions provider with over 10,000 value-added resellers (VAR) in the North, South and Latin American markets.

ABP Tech is one of the leading wholesale channel suppliers of IP telecommunication infrastructure products and services, as well as IP surveillance and physical security and IP network infrastructure products. The channel partnership announced today with CounterPath will create a new market opportunity and revenue channel for both companies in a new high growth IP mobility and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) market.

According to a recent report by Research and Markets, the Enterprise Unified Communication market in the US is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 4.19 percent over the period 2012–2016 in part due to the increasing requirement for affordable enterprise communication medium in the country. CounterPath’s easy-to-manage perpetual, hosted and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions reduce costs and staffing resources to allow SMBs and enterprises flexible options to purchase BYOD solutions at their own pace.

“We are very pleased to partner with CounterPath to distribute their industry-leading mobility solutions,” said Robert Messer, President and CEO at ABP Technology. “CounterPath presents a feature-rich, standards based approach to SIP mobility and SaaS that is agnostic to the IP PBX SIP infrastructure for any size of customer. Their unified communications solutions will be a valuable addition for our service provider and enterprise customers.”

“Expanding our market reach through distribution with channel partners such as ABP Tech is a key component of our overall strategy,” said Todd Carothers, EVP Marketing and Products, CounterPath. “ABP Tech has a leadership reputation in the IP phone, IP gateway, IP video and IP paging space and CounterPath’s hosted and cloud-based solutions, which are designed to give enterprises maximum flexibility in deploying, managing, and maintaining their communications solutions, are perfectly suited to complement their current product line.”
