CounterPath Working with Intel to Enhance Customer Experience for Mobile Communications
Vancouver, BC, Canada — September 05, 2014
CounterPath™ Solutions, Inc. [OTCBB CTPS], a developer of award-winning, high-quality, carrier-grade VoIP (Voice over IP) and Video over IP SIP softphones today announced it is working with Intel Corp. to enhance the customer experience for mobile communications by improving the capability and quality of voice over wireless networks. Specifically, CounterPath will enable its eyeBeam™ SIP-based video softphone for laptop PCs based on Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology. The companies will also be working together on advancing the current interoperability, session control and functionality of Bluetooth devices used in conjunction with the eyeBeam softphone.
The relationship serves to further build credibility into the VoIP experience by creating a virtually ubiquitous network environment with Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops and coupling it with CounterPath’s unique softphone application. What this means to business end users is that when using Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops, CounterPath’s open standard Voice and Video SIP softphone is available at their fingertips regardless of their network environment connection.
CounterPath’s softphone is optimized for Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops by confluencing packet prioritization, bandwidth reservation and call admission control. This enables the eyeBeam Softphone to provide more consistent quality of service across both wired and wireless networks using industry standards such as 802.11e. As a result, mobile customers will be able to link an Intel Centrino mobile technology-based laptop into wireless and wired networks, run simultaneous business applications while using their eyeBeam softphone, and take advantage of eyeBeam’s feature suite that is made to simplify and enhance the voice experience customers have come to expect from traditional telephony desktop solutions.
“Creating the ‘best customer experience’ is what drives companies like CounterPath and Intel to develop and support a high-quality, robust, and multi-business application ecosystem that integrates and extends over any network environment,” said Donovan Jones, vice president of sales & marketing, CounterPath Solutions. “Optimizing our technology with the Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology platform enables CounterPath to continue its mission to ensure customers have the tools and applications that will help them execute on their business strategies and make them successful in the marketplace.”
“Providing reliable, high-quality voice and data traffic is critical in enabling Intel’s vision of seamless collaboration for the Digital Office,” said Keith Kressin, director of marketing, Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group. “Optimizing CounterPath Solutions’ eyeBeam SIP-based video softphone for Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops supports the convergence of voice and data into wireless-enabled laptops to improve worker productivity and provide more communications tools across the enterprise.”
